Cheers for Malema in Diepsloot

2011-10-22 12:24

ANC Youth League president Julius Malema arrived at the Diepsloot recreation centre, north of Joburg, this afternoon to loud cheers and a frenzy of activity.

Malema and his spokesperson, Floyd Shivambu, entered the hall surrounded by a crowd of supporters.

People took pictures of the youth leader with their cellphones, while some said they were merely happy to see him.
More than 1 000 people gathered to hear Malema speak.

Malema was hoping to drum up support ahead of the Youth League’s Economic Freedom Youth Mass Action on October 27 and October 28.

Members will march from Beyers Naude Square to the Chamber of Mines in Joburg, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in Sandton and the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

Malema was also expected to speak in Ivory Park near Midrand later today.

He will address residents in Heidelberg, Meyerton, Sebokeng and Everton, south of Joburg on Sunday.
