Chiefs and Liverpool legends deliver 10 goal feast

2013-11-17 14:00

Kaizer Chiefs Legends and their Liverpool counterparts showed today’s players how to score when they collectively rattled the back of the net 10 times at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium yesterday.

Chiefs eventually eeked out a 4-2 penalty shootout win after the match between the two ended 5-5.

It was a good game of football featuring yesteryear’s stars from both sides and supporters got value for their money.

The star of the show was undoubtedly Patrik Berger, who was named man of the match after finding the back of the net four times.

The first goal came in the 11th minute as Berger put the ball beyond Brian Baloyi’s reach.

Six minutes later Berger found his second after latching onto a Vladimir Smicer left wing cross.

Chiefs pulled one back through Stanton Fredericks but Berger increased Liverpool’s lead when he netted his hat-trick in the 27th minute.

Frank Makua scored Chiefs second to reduce the deficit.

An unknown John Makholwana scored Liverpool’s fourth goal just a minute before half time but then Arthur Zwane also found the back of the net for Chiefs a minute later.

Fredericks equalised for the hosts in the second half but Berger was not finished yet as he scored his fourth of the match, only for Doctor Khumalo to draw Chiefs level to force the game into penalties.

It was a horrible shootout for Liverpool as they missed two penalties while Chiefs were perfect from the spot.

Berger and John Aldritch both missed theirs from the spot to give Amakhosi the victory. – Own Correspondent
