Chiefs eye big name stars

2012-05-16 12:37

After a disappointing season Kaizer Chiefs are going all out to strengthen the team for next season.

Chiefs will finish the season without a trophy and supporters have demanded changes.

Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung today said they have made offers for three Bafana Bafana players in SuperSport United captain Morgan Gould, Mulomowandau Mathoho of Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars striker Edward Manqele.

Motaung said they have also enquired about Bidvest Wits’ midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Chiefs have already signed Siboniso Gaxa from Belgian side Lierse SK on a three-year contract.

“Nothing has been finalised as yet but we are serious about reinforcing the team. It is not a secret. It is now up to those clubs to come back to us and once the clubs agree we will then agree personal terms with the clubs,” said Motaung.

He said they were eyeing six or seven new players in the new season.

“But obviously we are going to offload about 10 players to make way for the new ones. This has been done with consultation with the coach and he knows who is coming and who is going.”

Already coach Vladimir Vermezovic was shown the door even before the end of the season and has been replaced by former Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter.
