Kaizer Chiefs player George Lebese made a brief appearance at the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court today after he handed himself in yesterday in connection with an alleged assault incident.

Lebese’s legal representative Sammy Mahlangu accompanied him to the Silverton Police Station in Pretoria East where he was later released on R1000 bail.

Lebese, dressed in a black suit and matching shoes, looked uneasy as he waited for at least two hours for his hearing to commence.

He was charged with assault with intention to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious damage to property.

According to the charge sheet, Lebese – who was accompanied by three gentlemen – is prohibited from going to the complainant’s home.

Mahlangu told the media outside court: “I have no comment. The court will make its decision.”

The trial was postponed to March 9 for further investigation.
