Children ‘died on way to grandmother’s house’

2011-10-27 15:24

The bodies of two missing children were found on the side of the road near Lichtenburg in the North West, police said.

Sergeant Kelebogile Moiloa said the children were reported missing by their mother on Tuesday.

Moiloa said the mother left her four children at her house in Verdwaal to visit her mother in Bethlehem.

When she returned, the children were not at the house.

Police suspect the children, aged two and six, had grown tired or hungry as there were no visible injuries.

Moiloa said police suspected the children were trying to make their way to their grandmother’s house when they died.
Police were still searching for the other two children, aged seven and nine.
