Chit Chat: Miss Nude, the naked truth

2012-09-29 15:26

Dressed in a short, cream dress with a plunging neckline and black 15cm stiletto heels, Francessca Hirst looks exactly like what she is – an exotic creature packaged to elicit lustful and envious stares wherever she goes.

I’m meeting the blonde bombshell at a popular restaurant in Fourways, north of Joburg, but she’s gone to the wrong eatery.

Sitting at an outside table, I wave her over and she sashays across the street to the soundtrack of wolf whistles. She giggles.

A fly touches down on her yellow tresses and as if in a slow-motion Baywatch sequence, Hirst strikes a pose, lifts her neck and shakes her head while running her fingers through it. Ok then ...

How did you end up as Miss Nude SA?

I entered the competition because I wanted to get into Playboy magazine, which I did.

From there, Sexpo came on board and, as a result, I have my own stand and will be signing autographs and posing with people.

What does being Miss Nude SA mean to you?
That a woman is beautiful no matter what, with her clothes on or off, and that the human body is something to be proud of.

In this day and age, it’s still taboo to walk around with something too short or too skimpy.

Unfortunately, if people got this (that the human body is something to be proud of) and just let go a little bit, it’s not as bad as everyone thinks.

Do you think South Africa is ready for such a risqué form of liberation?
South Africa is a conservative country and I don’t mean to offend anyone.

Did you know that the Olympics were played in the nude? It was all about the human body and how it worked, so nudity is nothing to be ashamed of. It’s always been there. It’s art.

In a country with dangerously high incidents of rape, how does Miss Nude campaign for women’s liberation?

It’s all about women’s liberation and that is something that women throughout the ages have been fighting for. It’s about women wanting equality and recognition.

What kind of campaigns are you involved in?
I would like to get involved with such things.

What else do yo u do besides being Miss Nude SA?
I own a dance studio and a lingerie shop in Randburg. I’m a businesswoman and have to be smart about things.

What do you believe is the purpose of the Miss Nude SA campaign?
It’s all about loving who you are and not being ashamed of your body, and that people should be more open about nudity as it’s art and not pornographic at all.

It’s about posing in a position where the human body can be seen as an art form.

What can your fans expect to see at Sexpo?
I won’t be completely nude. I will be in body art and sexy lingerie with diamonds flowing. I’m going to look like a goddess.
