Hollywood star Claire Danes is dodging hipsters in Cape Town with husband actor Hugh Dancy in tow.

Filming on the fourth season of the hit TV show Homeland kicked off in South Africa this week. The political thriller will once again see Danes slip into the role of CIA agent Carrie Mathison. Cape Town will stand in for Istanbul, Turkey, where her latest mission unfolds.

On Monday, not even Mother City hail storms and gale-force winds could dampen the 35-year-old actress’ spirits. She was spotted having lunch at Harbour House restaurant next to Kalk Bay’s fishing quay. Wrapped in a cream coat and appearing jovial despite the cold, Danes was seated at a small table at a window.

Resident Adriaan Bester told City Press: “It was a very rainy day with intermittent hail. There was a huge table behind us filled with Americans. They were cheering when waves crashed against the window.

You know that feeling when you walk past someone, and you think you know her but you can’t remember from where? So you act friendly just in case. We made eye contact, I smiled at her and she smiled back. I thought maybe we went to school together.”

Last Saturday, the actress was spotted in the heart of the city. A patron at Yours Truly bistro told City Press: “She wandered down Kloof Street on Saturday. The hipsters continued just sipping beer. She was accompanied by a bearded gentleman, also very LA looking.”

Danes also tucked into glazed pork head and other delicacies with her husband and friends at The Test Kitchen in Woodstock, recently named the best restaurant in Africa at the prestigious 2014 World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards in London.
