Former Limpopo MEC of cooperative governance Clifford Motsepe is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting his wife, Tselane.

Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said Tselane had opened a case of assault on Friday evening.

“What we know is that she had gone out with a friend on Friday. While out she received an SMS from her husband asking her not to come back home too late. When she came back, he apparently beat her up with fists, saying it was too late.”

Mulaudzi said a case of domestic violence had been opened. “The (appearance) date is November 15. He was given a warning to appear in court on that date.” Motsepe is a member of the Limpopo provincial legislature. He is also a former member of the SABC board.

Neither he nor Tselane could be reached for comment.
