Column rough-tackled PSL chair

2011-11-19 15:03

I agree with the Metro FM caller who lambasted S’Busiso Mseleku.

His dislike for Dr Irvin Khoza is clearly visible. Even in Mseleko’s column (City Press) he wrote “those who lost are sulking.

They have taken the stance to hold the game at ransom. They are bent on ensuring that nothing moves unless it has their blessing and will personally benefit them”.

Who are you referring to here Mr Mseleku? It’s Dr Khoza, the very man who was at pains trying to ensure both national teams got all the players they needed for games?– and you refer to them in your words as “sulking”.

It was also disheartening to read words like: “are too powerful, greedy and more – will do nothing for the mere love of the game other than those things that will benefit them”.

Who are you referring this to my brother? (Kirsten) Nematandani? (Chief Mwelo) Nonkonyane? (Danny) Jordaan?

Oh! Wait a minute, all these guys are not too powerful, so it’s obvious even to a toddler that here Mr Mseleku is obsessed with the Iron Duke.

Let me help you chief. Your assertions are misplaced and lack substance. You’re generalising instead of being specific and bringing proof to the reader.

Dr Khoza is not a saint but he tirelessly works hard for the success of football in this country, one of the reasons we managed to host a successful World Cup.

What have you done, Mr Mseleku, to show a love for the game except writing – which you are paid for?

How have you helped the community you come from?

In my area, through Orlando Pirates we had a big tournament for under 12s, under 14s, and under 19s. It was sponsored by Adidas and four players from Orlando Pirates, and development coaches who conducted coaching clinics after the games and gave lots of soccer balls to the young lads.

These are the things we want from football people, those who do the less glamorous things without the media. They don’t go around flashing their contributions but we the community applaud them.

Your Sunday column was really out of line. It was totally disrespectful to Dr Khoza and disgusting to many of us who would have preferred your “pressing issues” to be objective and at least impartial.

Last but not least, you are not a bad writer however do not let your personal feelings blind your judgement.
