ConCourt declares election of ANC FS executive unlawful

2012-12-14 10:23

The Constitutional Court has declared the election of the Free State provincial executive committee unlawful.

This comes after six members of the ANC in the province had asked the court to declare the election of the PEC, headed by staunch President Jacob Zuma ally and provincial Premier Ace Magashule, unlawful based on “gory allegations” of irregularities in the nominations process.

The ANC’s Free State provincial elective conference and all its decisions, including Magashule’s election as chairperson, were set aside.

Commented ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu: “We'll study the judgment and see what its implications are so that we can internalise (them).”
