Cool chicks on a fun getaway

2011-08-13 12:02

When we, the Jozi social set, trek to Sun City in Rustenburg, North West, it’s because there’s a mega event happening, such as the SA Music Awards or Miss SA.

So when resort and hotel chain Sun International said they were hosting a couple of cool chicks for a fun girlfriends’ getaway to celebrate Women’s Month, I jumped at it.

I mean, who could possibly say no to being pampered to death and back while staying at the luxurious Palace?

Fabulous make-overs and skin tips from Clinique were thrown in.

Among the cool chicks was she-of-the-perfect-skin and Garnier ambassador Zizo Beda, former Miss SA Nicole Flint, Top Billing’s Lorna Maseko, Hlelo and Ntando Masina, Lalla Hiriyama, O-Access’s Dineo Moeketsi, Bonang Matheba and many other fantastic women.

After a draining obstacle course in the afternoon, we put on our glam rags for dinner at the R50 000-a-night African suite, where American actor Blair Underwood dropped by for a surprise visit.

Thankfully, we were all glammed up and still had our make-over faces on, so we were also looking smoking hot, baby. I loved Maseko’s white body con dress while Bollywood actress Tarina Patel’s gold shoe boots were absolutely diva with her frothy frock.

It’s good to see that the Masina twins have finally grown out of the “identical everything” phase.

But a word of caution: skinny frames and lifting weights make for a biltong look that will age you very quickly.

I must confess that it’s lovely to see a group of women get along so well. But then when you have a group of men catering to your every need, you all feel like genial queens.

If this is the calibre of young women that Mzansi is nurturing, then there’s a truly amazing future for this awesome country of ours.

Now, let’s eat cake...
