A policeman was arrested after he stabbed a man during an argument at a tavern in Setlopo Village, North West.

The two were drinking traditional beer at a tavern yesterday when the incident took place, said Captain Adéle Myburgh today.

“The 51-year-old man was stabbed with a knife in the back of his left shoulder during the argument,” she said.

The police were alerted to the scene by witnesses.

The officer, who was based at the Potchefstroom police station, was then arrested.

He was expected to appear in court to face a charge of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
