Cops expect arrest soon in Henning murder

2011-11-14 08:44

Chanelle Henning’s killers could be behind bars by the end of this week, the investigating officer into the murder says.

Captain Peet van der Spuy told The Times newspaper that “fruitful” information was received after identikits of the two suspects were released.

The 26-year-old mother was shot dead last Tuesday in Faerie Glen, allegedly by two men on a bike, just moments after dropping her son off at school.

Her funeral is set to take place at the Doxa Deo Church in Hartbeespoort today, EWN reported.

Meanwhile, Henning’s parents, Ivan and Sharon Saincic, said that she had been followed for weeks by two men on a bike, according to the Sunday Times.

Just a day before she was killed, the two men pulled up next to her car and one of them lifted his helmet’s visor and grinned at her.

They also feared that they were being followed and that their phones were being tapped.

Henning was involved in a messy divorce from her husband, Nico Henning. He was questioned last week but police don’t view him as a suspect at this stage.

The Saincics have reached a settlement with Nico Henning, deciding to share custody of their grandson.

Both suspects are white, the one thought to be aged between 35 and 40, has a moustache and is about 1.7m tall and is slender.

The other suspect is slightly shorter, of medium build and believed to be aged about 50.
