Cops nab 4 truck hijackers

2010-03-12 10:19

FOUR men were arrested today after allegedly hijacking a truck transporting cargo worth R1.2 million at Putfontein, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

Senior Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said the truck, carrying tiles, tyres and batteries, was hijacked on the N3 south just before the Heidelberg off-ramp outside Johannesburg shortly after midnight.

The truck was fitted with a tracking device, leading the police to Putfontein.

“The four suspects were pounced upon by officers while they were in the process of off-loading their loot at an abandoned plot in Putfontein.”

All four were expected to appear in court on Monday.
