Cops re-arrested after getting bail

Two police officers were re-arrested outside the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court shortly after being released on bail.

The two Germiston, Gauteng, constables were arrested last Wednesday in Polokwane, when they were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and suspected housebreaking equipment, Colonel Ronel Otto said today.

Ernst Nkomane (36) and Sylvester Khosa (28) appeared in court yesterday, and were released on R500 bail each.

Upon walking out of the court building they were re-arrested in connection with a house robbery that took place in Mokopane on the same day that they were arrested.

Nkomane and Khosa allegedly broke into a house last Wednesday and threatened to shoot the female homeowner as well as her daughter-in-law, Otto said.

The suspects fled after taking jewellery, a laptop computer and other household items.

They are due to appear in the Mokopane Magistrates’ Court later this week on charges of armed robbery.
