Cosatu to march in Joburg

2010-09-02 07:26

Cosatu members will march through downtown Johannesburg today and hand over memorandums to the city’s high court, and the departments of finance and housing.

“The protest will start at 9am at Mary Fitzgerald Square,” Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar of the Metro Police said.

Several streets would be closed.

The march was expected to end around 3pm.

Thousands of public servants have been participating in mass marches countrywide to push for an 8.6% salary increase and a R1 000 monthly housing allowance.
