Couple found dead in vehicle

2010-07-16 12:31

An elderly couple were found dead in the back of a vehicle in

Hibberdene, KwaZulu-Natal police said today.

Colonel Jay Naicker said: “It would appear that the couple were

assaulted with a blunt object but a post-mortem will be held to determine the

exact cause of death.”

A passer-by notified police of a white Volvo sedan that had been

left in a ditch last night.

When police arrived at the scene, they found several items in the

vehicle and discovered the bodies of a woman and man in their sixties in the

back of the car.

Naicker said: “Investigation revealed that the couple were

residents in the Woodgrange area. They were possibly attacked at their home,

robbed and killed and then placed in the back of their vehicle.”

It was also thought that the perpetrator lost control of the

vehicle while driving and fled on foot. The couple’s house was found ransacked,

he said.
