Cricket South Africa president fails to pitch for meeting

2011-10-15 10:26

Cricket South Africa president Mtutuzeli Nyoka has not turned up for a meeting in which he is expected to be given a vote of no confidence.

The federation’s chief executive, Gerald Majola, and vice-president AK Khan were among the Cricket South Africa officials who arrived for the meeting in Kempton Park this morning, but there was no sign of Nyoka when the doors were closed.

Nyoka had reportedly said this week he had changed his mind and would not attend the meeting, as there was “no point”.

Only one of the 11 provincial administrative bodies – the Northerns Cricket Union – publicly stated it would support the Cricket South Africa president.

Nyoka is accused of disregarding majority decisions of the Cricket South Africa board and damaging its reputation.
