Crying wolf the only discernable plot

2010-02-27 15:41

IT must be something in the water, but every time ANC leaders get

into trouble about something, they shout “Plot!”.

When faced with criticism of his political style, former president

Thabo Mbeki shouted “Plot!” State security was used to investigate a so-called

plot to oust him by Tokyo Sexwale, Mathews Phosa and Cyril Ramaphosa.

Then, when President Jacob Zuma (then deputy president) got into

trouble for alleged corruption and cronyism, he too cried “Plot!”. Zuma’s entire

defence of the corruption and racketeering allegations he faced was premised on

an alleged plot within the National Prosecuting Authority.

Former national director of public prosecutions Bulelani Ngcuka

suffered the ignominy of being labelled an apartheid spy.

The hoax emails saga showed how organs of state including the

police, the NPA and the national intelligence services were abused by Mbeki and

Zuma’s lieutenants as they raced for the role of ANC president.

Just as order returned, young ANC Youth League president Julius

Malema has claimed there is a plot to oust him and Zuma, this time engineered by

the SA Revenue Services. Enough, already.

The document he’s hawking around town is junk drawn up by a rhino

poacher. Somebody should shut up the hoax plot hawkers, or we’ll all go down.
