The Eastern Cape DA will meet abaThembu King Buyelekhaya Zwelibanzi on Friday.

Democratic Alliance provincial leader Athol Trollip told the The Star newspaper he was excited about the upcoming meet and was not bothered by the negative publicity associated with the monarch.

“I don’t want to put the cart before the horse but I am scheduled to meet him on July 12,” Trollip was quoted as saying.

According to the publication, Trollip and the king would discuss constitutionalism, the DA’s constitution and its values.

“We will talk about his membership and what role he can, will or won’t play in the future of the DA.”

Last month King Dalindyebo described the ANC and President Jacob Zuma as “corrupt hooligans” in Qunu in the Eastern Cape, at a prayer service for ailing former president Nelson Mandela.

Dalindyebo reportedly said the African National Congress had distorted the anti-apartheid icon’s legacy and behaved arrogantly.

Dalinyebo said he would stop smoking dagga the day Zuma stopped being corrupt.

He has also said he would join the DA as a birthday gift to Mandela.
