In honour of Women’s Month, Joburg-based graphic designer David Tshabalala is creating Run The World.

It comprises 31 portraits of women he admires – one for each day of the month. What’s cool about the collection, which he calls an “instabition” because he is posting the portraits on Instagram, is that these women aren’t the typical public figures you would expect to see in a Women’s Month tribute.

Instead, they are women who have personally affected Tshabalala. As we have our own personal heroines – ones who may not be on the cover of magazines – Tshabalala has his.

Women like Sherilea Gaspar, a skateboarding mum who has shared magical moments with the best rappers and musicians in this country through her photography; and Lufuno Sathekge, who works in marketing and whose “penchant for all things beautiful and stylish is reflected through her warm personality”.

We love this initiative and we love Tshabalala for doing it.

Lufuno Sathekge: She works in marketing and her penchant for all things beautiful and stylish is reflected through her warm personality.

Sherilea Gaspar: Skateboarding mum who is cooler than you and who has shared magical moments with the best rappers and musicians in this country through her photography.

Qhawekazi Mene, a.k.a QonVocals: Radio presenter, musician, aspiring actress and film maker.
