Disappointment at low turnout for Mandela memorial at Dobsonville Stadium

Less than 50 people had gathered at the rain-soaked 24 000-seater Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto ahead of the memorial service for former president Nelson Mandela.

Vusi Thembekwayo, who also lives close to the stadium, said he was disappointed by the turnout. “What can we do? It’s the rain. People will rather watch from indoors.”
