Eastern Cape man charged with wife’s murder

2010-12-10 09:10

A 40-year-old man was arrested after his wife’s body was found buried in Helendale, Eastern Cape police said today.

Warrant Officer Alwin Labans said the man was arrested yesterday after investigations led to the discovery of his wife’s buried body.

“Police dug up the grave and found the body, partly decomposed.”

Labans said local residents became worried when only the husband returned from a walk with his wife.

They reported the 43-year-old wife missing to police on December 1 because they hadn’t seen her for a few days.

The man would appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of murder.

The couple had seven children.
