Education system is dysfunctional – PAM

2010-01-07 08:45

A drop in the matric pass rate shows that the education system was

“dysfunctional“, the Pan Africanist Movement (PAM) said today.

“The decline of general results across all provinces from 62.5% to

60.7% is proof that our education system is dysfunctional and needs serious

restructuring and capital injection,” said PAM secretary general Clarence

He said schools that obtained pass results below 50% every year

need to be attended to urgently.

Mayekiso said PAM – a Pan Africanist Congress breakaway group –

proposed that the Eastern Cape education department be put under administration

by the national government.

This follows “continuous decline and stagnation in matric results

and general decline [in the] management of education,” said Mayekiso.
