FC AK gun down United

2013-03-20 18:55

FC AK chalked up their fourth win of the season with a 3-0 demolition of United FC in a National First Division fixture today.

The loss left United – fresh from eliminating Jomo Cosmos in the Nedbank Cup last 16 over the weekend – ruing a missed chance to leapfrog their way in to the top five, especially on the day the leading pack was not in action.

The defeat was also United's second on the road in 10 outings.

But in this fixture, the visitors stood little chance against their hosts who made use of even the slightest chance.

FC AK second half substitute Njanyana Nhlapo snatched a brace a few minutes after his introduction. The midfielder capatilised on a defensive mix up on both occasions.

Former Orlando Pirates defender Mzondi Mthombeni gave the home side the lead when he fired in a free-kick after 13 minutes. They also came close at the stroke of half-time but striker Leroy Smith headed his effort over the bar.

United's attempts to claw back into the encounter fell short when Nhlapo punished the erratic United defence with a soft goal to push FC AK one spot from their 15th place on the log.
