Farmer accused of assault with a blunt object

A North West farmer has been arrested for allegedly assaulting

seven workers at his farm near Lichtenburg.

The incident allegedly took place on Tuesday, police Lieutenant

Colonel Lesego Metsi said.

“They alleged he assaulted them with a blunt object,” said


The farmer was arrested on Tuesday on seven charges of assault with

the intention to do grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear in the

Lichtenburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Metsi said the assault was not linked to the murder of the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) leader Eugene


“There is no reason to suggest that the assault might be linked to the murder of Mr Terre’Blanche.”
