Favourites Algeria ‘respect’ Bafana

2015-01-19 12:01

Bafana Bafana’s impressive performances in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers have earned them respect across the continent.

This was clear from Algeria coach Christian Gourcuff’s comments ahead of their opening clash tonight.

The coach said he had been impressed by the team’s organisation and predicted a tough encounter.

He said Bafana were playing a similar formation to his own side and this would make for an interesting game.

“I’ve been following their progress and they are more organised than most teams. For us to get far in the tournament we must face tough teams like Ghana, Senegal and South Africa, and hopefully we will come out on top,” said Gourcuff.

Algeria, who are the top ranked team on the continent, are favourites to lift the cup but Gourcuff said it would not be easy.

He said they would take it one game at a time.
