Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal has accused football governing body Fifa of giving World Cup hosts Brazil an unfair advantage with a favourable fixture list.

The five-time world champions have played their two group matches a day before the Oranje, but will face Cameroon four hours after Van Gaal’s side clash with Chile.

It means the Seleção will know who their opponents in the last 16 will be before they take on the Indomitable Lions at Estadio Nacional de Brasilia today.

Van Gaal has questioned Fifa’s motives, claiming it goes against their policy of fair play, while he reckons Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side won’t fancy meeting the Dutch in the next round.

He said: “For every match Fifa have this advertisement around fair play. Fifa plays these tricks and it’s not a good thing. It’s not fair play.

“We’re going to focus on a victory against Chile and I don’t think that will be affected by the fact Brazil will play after us.

“I am just assuming they [Brazil] will do their sporting duty. Why on earth are they [Fifa] doing that [with the fixture schedule]? That is the question.

“I can well imagine that Brazil doesn’t want to face Netherlands. We have scored a lot of goals. True. And we have we scored fantastic goals. True as well.”
