Final call for Comrades entries

2010-11-29 11:35

Entries for the 2011 Comrades Marathon close tomorrow, with 17 005 received so far.

There was an 18 000 entry cap on the race, which takes place in six months, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) said today.

“Due to logistical constraints and the sheer number of participants, we will not be able to extend the entry period,” said CMA general manager Gary Boshoff.

“We value the enduring support of all athletes and therefore request that all potential Comrades 2011 participants take note of the closing date and the limited time available.”

The 86th edition of the world’s largest ultramarathon will be an “up” run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg on May 29.

The CMA said entry forms were available at all Mr Price Home, Sport and clothing stores, at Sportsmans Warehouse, local running clubs, provincial sporting federations, the CMA and online at

Runners could also hand deliver or post their completed entry forms and proof of payment to the CMA’s offices in Pietermaritzburg.
