Fix the billing mess, Gauteng ANC tells Sanral

2014-02-06 15:44

The ANC in Gauteng has called on the SA National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) to fix its e-tolls billing mess.

A number of Gauteng residents have complained about incorrect bills received from the agency, for using the province’s freeways since tolling started in December last year.

ANC provincial secretary David Makhura said the party’s recent provincial lekgotla had called on the agency to “be more compassionate in dealing with queries from members of the public who are willing to pay for e-tolls, instead of using threats”.

The agency came under fire recently after its spokesperson, Vusi Mona, told a radio station listener to “raise your IQ a little” when the caller enquired about how members of the public could be sure text messages from Sanral were not part of a scam.

President Jacob Zuma recently called for Sanral to urgently fix its billing problems, saying billing mistakes were unacceptable.
