Three different mobile applications are available to provide information on the country’s upcoming general elections, the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) has said.

“Voters will be able to access and follow the 2014 elections results in real time throughout the capturing process through their mobile devices from anywhere and at any time,” IEC spokesperson Libisi Maphanga said yesterday.

The first application provides information on how and where to vote, and about the various candidates and the result calculations.

The second application is a digital game called IXSA which introduces new voters to the voting process “in a fun, interactive and innovative way”.

Players pick an avatar and collect points along the way to “election day”.

The third application presents real-time access to election data.
