Fuel price to go up next week

The retail price of petrol will increase by 29 cents a litre next Wednesday, taking the price in Gauteng to over R10 a litre, the energy department said today.

The retail price of all grades of petrol would increase by 29 cents on May 4.

The price of diesel with a 0.05 and 0.005 percent sulphur content would increase by 16 cents a litre.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would increase by 15 cents a litre.

The single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin would increase by 20 cents a litre.

The price of petrol 95 ULP (unleaded petrol) in Gauteng would be R10.25 a litre from Wednesday. At the coast, it would cost R9.95 a litre.

The maximum retail price for LP Gas will increase by 53 cents per kilogram.

The department of energy said the increases were a result of increases in the average international prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin.
