Full speed ahead for Gautrain

2011-07-28 15:54

The Gautrain link between Johannesburg and Pretoria will open to the public next week, Gauteng Transport MEC Ismail Vadi announced on Thursday.

EyeWitness News reported that the tracks were expected to be operational by June, but water seepage problems delayed the process.

After weeks of waiting for an official opening date, commuters will finally be able to travel on the train between Johannesburg and Pretoria from next Tuesday.

The section from Rosebank to Hatfield will be fully operational, including bus services, from 5.30am to 8.30pm.

The final section between Rosebank and Johannesburg Park Station will be opened at a later stage because engineers are still working on water seepage problems in the tunnels.
