Gaxa keen to help Chiefs win trophies

Kaizer Chiefs’ new recruit, Siboniso Gaxa, says he didn’t hesitate to sign with the team despite this not being “their best season”.

Speaking after his first training session at the Chiefs village, Naturena, today, Gaxa said he was looking forward to helping the club win trophies.

“I never hesitated to sign on the dotted line when the opportunity came. I know this has not been their best season but I share their ambition going forward,” said the former SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns defender.

Gaxa was signed from Belgian side Lierse SK on a three-year contract.

He said the PSL has grown in stature and has become bigger and better hence his decision to come back home.

He said he brings with him a lot of experience from playing abroad.

“Playing overseas was a learning curve for me, not just in football terms but life in general. I have learnt to be strong because playing away from home is never easy as you meet people you don’t know and everything is different but that makes you a strong person. It has helped me to appreciate certain things in life.”

Gaxa said this season was a good one for him as he was a regular in the side and missed only four games.

He said he would not put pressure on himself as he wanted to enjoy football again.

“I am here to give my best to the club and help Chiefs go back to their glory days.”
