Generations star feared for her life

Generations actress Sophie Ndaba separated from her ex-husband Bishop Keith Harrington because she feared he would shoot her.

A family friend told Sunday World that Sophie, who plays Queen in the popular SABC soap, feared for her life.

“She was scared that because they go to his house in Mpumalanga quite often, he would hold her hostage there and shoot her because he kept accusing her of seeing other men,” says the concerned friend, who did not want to be named.

According to the friend, Bishop Harrington thought Sophie was cheating on him and seemed to “suffer from an inferiority complex”.

‘Charged at her’

The source told the newspaper about an incident which made soapie veteran Ndaba finally decide to divorce from her husband, a month after they were married in a lavish surprise ceremony.

The actress’ phone battery allegedly died while she was an MC at an out of town government event.

When the actress returned home, Harrington accused her of having extra-marital affairs, and then “charged at her”.

After the incident, Sophie fasted for 21 days as she considered her future and then decided she could not take it any more and ended the marriage.

The bishop, who is not new to controversy after being found to have falsified his educational qualifications, denied he had accused his ex-wife of cheating.

He also denied he possessed a firearm.

“I don’t own a gun anymore. I sold it a long time ago,” he told the tabloid.

Sophie refused to comment and said she would stick to a press statement released last week, which read:
“Generations management team and Sophie Ndaba hereby sadly announced that after much soul searching and prayer, Sophie Ndaba and her husband have taken the painful decision to separate.

“While we do appreciate that Ms Ndaba and Mr Harrington are public figures, we request that, for the sake of both their children and families, this be treated as a private matter. The separation is amicable and the decision to separate, mutual.”

Sophie was previously married to actor Themba Ndaba, whom she divorced in 2007, with whom she has three children.
