Go gaga for the Met

2012-01-13 13:29

January 28 will see thousands of colourfully dressed spectators

descend on Kenilworth racecourse for the horse racing extravaganza, the J&B

The Made Different theme calls on fashionistas to “challenge the

status quo and break the rules of fashion and make your outfit from something

truly different”.

Designer David Tlale says this is an opportunity for people to be

artistic. “The theme doesn’t mean you have to go crazy. You’re allowed to go

Lady Gaga if you want, but you can still look

‘different’ by wearing something made from a unique fabric or that has

interesting textures.”

Paledi Segapo, designer of menswear brand Palse Homme, cautions

against looking too “costumey”. “As men, we need to be careful not to look like

clowns to compete with women. Stick to the minimalist look of a simple suit and

unique accessories. It could be a tie, shoes or a hat.”
