Grand dad in court over sex assault

2012-03-02 12:58

A 58-year-old grandfather who pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault appeared in the Humansdorp Magistrates Court today.

“The case was postponed to March 30, pending a psychologist’s report,” Eastern Cape police Lt-Col Priscilla Naidu said.

The grandfather pleaded guilty on January 11 this year to sexually abusing his granddaughters.

Naidu said the man sexually abused his four-year-old and seven-year-old granddaughters, who were living next door to him in Humansdorp.

“The children reported the sexual abuse to their mother just before Christmas. The man was arrested soon afterwards.

“During his second appearance he pleaded guilty and was released on R5 000 bail,” said Naidu.

Bail conditions state the man is not allowed to reside in the Humansdorp area.
