Hijackers assault man in Meyerton

2010-03-25 13:07

A 23-YEAR-OLD man suffered serious head injuries after he was

assaulted by a group of hijackers near Meyerton, ER24 said today.

Spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson said the man was accosted by an unknown

number of men some five kilometres from Meyerton yesterday evening.

The hijackers hit the man with a blunt object behind the head and

neck before driving some distance with him and abandoning him on the side of

Meyer Street in Meyerton.

The man’s friend, who was driving past the spot where he had been

dumped, recognised him and called an ambulance.

He was treated for suspected blunt-force injuries to the back of

his head and possible back and neck injuries before being taken to the

Vereeniging Medi-Clinic in a stable condition, said Jackson.

The man’s vehicle has not been recovered.
