History has chosen Orlando Pirates – Mbalula

2013-10-31 16:01

History has chosen Orlando Pirates to be contesting this year’s CAF Champions League final and they will win it for Southern Africa, Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula has said.

Mbalula was speaking at the official launch of “Pirates Friday” at the Wembley Arena in Johannesburg today.

The campaign seeks to galvanise support for The Ghosts ahead of their collision with Egyptian giants Al Ahly at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night and in the second leg in Egypt, scheduled for next Sunday.

“Pirates didn’t choose history, but history has chosen Pirates and they will emerge victorious one way or the other,” said a passionate Mbalula, donning a Pirates jersey presented to him by the club’s spokesperson, Mickey Modisane.

Mbalula called on all South Africans to rally behind Pirates by wearing sports T-shirts of any team tomorrow and next Friday and, most importantly, to pack Orlando Stadium to the rafters come match day.

So far 17 000 of the 35 000 tickets on offer for the clash have been sold.
