Idols: What now?

2010-11-04 08:40

A record deal, a car and R250 000 later and Idols winner Elvis Blue promises to stop at nothing to ensure, that unlike his predecessors he will not be fading away.

Blue is determined to have an effect on the music industry and he is willing to relocate his family from Cape Town to Johannesburg in order to make it happen: “During Idols my family and I spent a lot of time apart and although we have not made any concrete decisions we are certainly weighing up the pros and cons of moving if that is going to help me to make music.”

The former teacher believes making good music will ensure his longevity in the industry.

“I have been performing as a musician for 12 years without the right platform and I intend on using this opportunity as best I can. I want to start gigging and and start recording my album as soon as possible.”

In the meantime, runner-up Lloyd Cele confirmed that he and his wife will be resigning from their jobs to pursue his career in music.

The father of one says: “I will be making a call to Universal Music to find out what the possibilities are of a record deal. If they aren’t interested I know that there will be other opportunities.”

Cele has already decided what he wants to include in his album: “I want to create something multicultural that caters for everyone. It has to be something fusion and I would love to record a song in Afrikaans.”
