Ivory Coast name strong squad to take on Bafana

Despite the absence of regular captain Didier Drogba, who is out injured, the Ivory Coast have named a strong 19-man squad to face South Africa in a friendly international in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

The top-ranked African team, expected to arrive in the country on Thursday, named a powerful squad today, boasting the likes of Gervinho, Salomon Kalou, and Yaya and Kolo Toure.

Meanwhile, only four players in the 28-man Bafana Bafana squad had yet to report to camp this morning.

Captain Steven Pienaar, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Bevan Fransman and Tsepo Masilela, who all play for overseas clubs, were expected to join the squad later in the day.

Ivory Coast squad: Goalkeepers: Boubacar Barry (Lokeren), Gnanhouan Gerard (Avranches), Daniel Yeboah (Asec). Defenders: Benjamin Angoua (Valenciennes), Souleiman Bamba (Leicester), Emmanuel Eboue (Galatasary), Igor Lolo (Kuban), Siaka Tiene (PSG), Kolo Toure (Manchester City), Didier Zokora (Trabzonspor). Midfielders: Jean-Jacques Gosso (Orduspor), Max Gradel (Saint-Etienne), Coulibaly Kafoumba (Nice), Didier Ya Konan (Hanover), Yaya Toure (Manchester City). Forwards: Wilfried Bony (Vitesse), Seydou Doumbia (CSKA Moscow), Gervinho (Arsenal), Salomon Kalou (Chelsea).
