Jazz Tweeple share their views

2011-03-26 11:25

As with most things nowadays, Twitter has become a communal space where we all experience TV shows, music conferences, news events and concerts regardless of where we are.

Music fans who could not make it to Cape Town were able to share in the excitement from their mobile phone and computer screens, all thanks to Twitter.

The social media network was abuzz from the first performance, with fans promptly tweeting their frustration at all the delayed shows while others were blown away by the likes of Christan Scott, Wayne Shorter, Earth Wind & Fire and Tortured Soul.

Here is what jazz Tweeple (the not-so-official name for people on Twitter) had to say about the first night of the 12th Cape Town International Jazz Festival:

@Lesterkk: Coloured uncles performing like Bieber fans for Earth, Wind, and Fire. #CTIJF

Mshfk: @Kabomo its really moved beyond a jazz festival... But it’s awesome!!! #CTIJF

Maimalik: Christian Scott murked it maan! After watching him I’m think some peops should stick to pressing cds they don’t know shit! #CTIJf

Qhakaza: Oh wow, Mr Mean Bouncer Guy do I see a lil tapping of the foot there? Don’t fight it. Just dance. #torturedsoul #ctijf

Rustum420august: Back to #ewf. They’re playing nothing popular #knowthelyrics before u come to the show #ctijf

Mshfk: #CTIJF please keep to the time stipulated in the program tomorrow.....its late and I’m tired earth wind and fire 45min late :-(

Qhakaza: Irritating thing about delayed shows is they clash with others that are running on time. #ctijf

Maimalik: So far Dave Koz, Hanjin , Victor Masondo are my favs. The Bassline acts were mediocre. Now to watch Christian Scott *happy dance* #CTIJF

Leera20: Dedication to Abdulah Ibrahim #DonLaka taking me to places I don’t know #CTIJF

Qhakaza: so @tumifromthev has evolved and changed his sound. All artists are allowed to. But I just don’t know if I’m feeling him now. I’m sad #ctijf

Mshfk: Smiles from ear to earRT @leera20: And he calls Bebe Winans on stage #DaveKoz #CTIJF

Jossieu: Hanjin is freaking amazing! Singapore born, Hong Kong based jazz musician #CTIJF http://twitpic.com/4d805p

ShottaZee: Is he allowed though? BoomShaka got into trouble. RT @leera20 Dave Koz plays Nkosi Sikelela and the crowd goes mad! #CTIJF

Kumarclark: #NP “words cannot describe this feeling” ivan mazuze. He is killing it! #CTIJF

Kumarclark: Wow!!! Oh WAT a NIGHT!!! #CTIJF A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!!!!!!
