Joburg week of fashion and fun

What a hectic week it’s been. Mine started off on a glamorous note with the launch of the second Chanel Studio at Clearwater Mall on Tuesday night.

I ran into former Miss SA Thuli Sithole. The now short-haired Sithole said her 18-month-old son is the reason she stays home. But she effortlessly slipped into her model role when the brand’s make-up artist from the UK, Christine Lucignano, demonstrated their new make-up for darker skin on her.

Wednesday afternoon was the launch of Africa Fashion Week at the Sandton Sun Hotel. The actual show kicks off later this week.

Later that day Metro FM went back to the scene of its first music awards, The Pyramid, just outside Joburg.

The guest list included the who’s who of the music industry. Record producers, songwriters, singers and DJ were all there to find out if their work had been nominated for the upcoming awards in Mpumalanga in November.

Zahara made sure to stand out in a colour-block bandage dress, colourful shoes and head scarf. The verdict is still out on her look. And those shoes! No, no, no.

Still on colour, Theo Kgosinkwe sashayed in wearing a purple cardigan despite the heat. And when I asked for champagne at the bar I was served the French kind. Even the whisky was the expensive kind.

Judging by this, this year’s awards should be a glam and luxurious affair.
