Finding good hair in Joburg just got easier. Gone are the days of having to find elite providers such as Diva Divine to get premium weaves.

More women are now making the transformation from “packet hair” to imported goods.

Buying online or from the leading brands is no longer a prerequisite. Thanks to an inner-city gem, imported hair is now more accessible.

When I discovered Trading Spaces in the Mbowa College building, I had no idea I would be walking into what can only be described as a Brazilian-Peruvian-Indian hair emporium.

In store after store, spread over two storeys, you can find a hair outlet that offers a variety of lengths, colours and styles.

One of the most popular stores in Trading Spaces is Noma’s African Salon, which caters for the public and wholesale buyers.

After three years in business, this six-member team has the most competitive pricing for premium hair.

Prices range from R1?200 to R4?000 for Brazilian, Indian, Peruvian and Malaysian hair, lace wigs and virgin hair.

It’s no wonder some of South Africa’s most famous come here to top up their supply.

The store also offers salon services.
