Julius Malema: ‘People hide their stupidity behind ties’

2014-07-25 00:44

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema says nothing will make EFF representatives shed their signature red regalia because “if you take off the overall, you are going to look like the rest of them”.

Speaking at the book launch of The Coming Revolution: Julius Malema and the Fight for Economic Freedom at Wits University in Joburg last night, Malema said: “In politics, symbolism is important. No one should tell you to take off what identifies you, because if you take off the overall, you are going to look like the rest of them, who said we can’t think because we are wearing overalls; people hide their stupidity behind ties.”

A handful of police officers manned the main doorway.

One of the party’s leaders, Dali Mpofu, who wrote the foreword to the book, told the gathering that the EFF would release more books. He said it was important to do so because the EFF was the first left-wing formation that had arrived in Parliament after only a few months of existence.

The party will host an anniversary rally in Soweto on the weekend to mark a year since its birth.
