Julius vs Zuma will be no picnic

2011-09-03 20:46

The ANC Youth League is arrogant and optimistic in thinking that it can dethrone President Jacob Zuma.

The youth league has complained that the disciplinary committee is being manipulated to silence the league.

The youth league’s secretary-general, Sandiso Magaqa, said anger and emotion led to the mistake of electing Jacob Zuma at Polokwane.

Already the youth league has followed Cosatu in abandoning singing Zuma’s trademark song, “Awuleth’ umshini wami”.

You will never hear Cosatu singing this song again, especially public sector unions (Popcru, Sadtu, Nehawu).

In the “friends of the youth league” camp are Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, Kgalema Motlanthe (also vacillating under pressure), Zwelinzima Vavi, Mathews Phosa, Tokyo Sexwale, Cassel Mathale, David Masondo, Tony Yengeni, Fikile Mbalula, Billy Masetlha, Zizi Zodwa, Thandi Modise, Paul Mashatile, Zweli Mkhize, Ace Magashule,

John Block, Ngoako Ramathlodi, Lebogang Maile and Bheki Cele. Except Madikizela-Mandela, these were Zuma’s foot soldiers at Polokwane.

Those who are left in Zuma’s laager are Gwede Mantashe, Sdumo Dlamini, David Mabuza, Blade Nzimande, Jeremy Cronin, Lindiwe Zulu, Jackson Mthembu, Pravin Gordhan, Senzo Mchunu, Buti Manamela, Mac Maharaj and Nomvula Mokonyane.

Phosa was correct to say Mangaung will make Polokwane a picnic. That is why Mbalula’s focus at the national executive committee meeting on “discipline” was on the Guptas, who will fund Zuma’s second-term campaign.

A combination of Vavi, Masondo, Malema and Madikizela-Mandela makes Juju’s team a powerful faction. That is why Juju must face the disciplinary committee and Phosa must be forced to quit as Malema’s representative in the disciplinary committee hearings.

There are attempts to co-opt the SABC and New Age (owned by the Guptas) into negatively portraying Malema and using the SAPS intelligence unit, Sars and the Public Protector to investigate Malema.

A Zumanist vs Zumanist war will be interesting, but brutal.
