KZN education department appoints new director-general

2011-03-11 14:39

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education had announced that Nkosinathi Sishi was its new director-general, an official said today.

“The cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr Nkosinathi Sishi, current national chief director educational measurement, assessment and public examinations in the Department of Basic Education,” said KwaZulu-Natal education MEC Senzo Mchunu’s spokeswoman, Muntu Lukhozi.

Sishi assumes the position on April 1.

His predecessor, Cassius Lubisi, assumed his new duties as the director-general in the presidency last November.

The post was then advertised with a number of candidates showing interest in the position.

This was then followed by the shortlisting process in December 2010 and January 2011. Interviews were conducted in February, said Lukhozi.

“We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Simon Mbokazi, the acting superintendent general, for his valuable contribution, particularly during the past four months.

“Mbokazi is still senior general manager in education service delivery and management as well as acting senior general manager of human resources and administration in the KZN Department of Education,” said Lukhozi.
