Kebble killers get gun licences

2012-03-03 10:27

The two men who turned state witness to avoid prosecution for the murder of mining magnate Brett Kebble were given back their gun licenses.

Mikey Schultz and Nigel McGurk were issued with five and four gun licences respectively last year, despite confessing to the murder, the Saturday Star reported today.

Schultz received his in September and McGurk in December.

The two men, along with accomplice Faisal Smith, have maintained Kebble was in deep financial trouble and he asked them to assist him in his suicide in 2005.

The three were given R500 000 each to kill Kebble. Their gun licences were taken away after they were arrested.

National police spokesperson Captain Dennis Adriao told the paper that his office was investigating how Schultz and McGurk had their licences re-instated.

They were given indemnity from prosecution to testify against drug trafficker Glenn Agliotti, the man who allegedly masterminded Kebble’s murder.

Agliotti was eventually acquitted.
