Keep e-toll roads on hold

2011-11-02 09:26

Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele should be commended for placing Gauteng’s e-tolling system on hold until further notice.

Some of us were stunned by Cabinet’s hasty endorsement of the system even prior to full completion of improvement on the roads.

We wondered why our views were suppressed while every effort was taken to impose the e-tolling system with its crippling financial implications to Gauteng residents.

Again, we must caution that in the best interests of Gauteng motorists, the e-tolling system must be shelved until such time that economic prospects have improved for the better and all other concerns have been addressed.
