Khanyi does Durban

2011-03-30 14:06

South Africa’s self-proclaimed queen of bling, Khanyi Mbau, seems to have her mind set on being something of a Durbanite these days.

Not only did she strut her stuff at construction boss S’bu Mpisane’s over-the-top seventh wedding anniversary at the exclusive Zimbali resort last weekend, she will also hog the limelight at the much-awaited launch of Pulse Nightclub in the city on Saturday.

Looking hot and stylish as usual, Mbau was among the top guests at Sbu and Shawn Mpisane’s do.

It is rumoured that the owners of Pulse paid a whopping R35 000 for the socialite to appear at their club – the newest black hot spot in the city – for Saturday’s launch.

Pulse, near Ushaka Marine World on Durban’s Point Waterfront, is owned by city-based entrepreneurs Sthembiso Memela and Camrenn Ball.

Memela didn’t want to divulge how much they spent for Mbau’s appearance at the club, but said it was “a lot’’.

“That’s too confidential, but she is worth every cent. Khanyi is out there and people love her character. We want to put the Pulse there where she is,” said Memela.

Mbau will also perform some of her songs to entertain the patrons who will be attending the launch. A ticket to Saturday’s gig costs R50 while VIP access will be by invitation only.

Memela said Pulse is a 1 500m² venue catering for upmarket tastes and fat wallets.

“It’s for rich people who want to live their lives with no regrets. Durban has lots of lounges and this is the real nightclub for the real people,” he said.

Other guests include famous Live Presenter Sizwe Dlomo, Pro Kid, Oskido, DJ Tira, Bongz, and Cndo.
